17 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip

GAZA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) — At least 17 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on a school sheltering displaced people, and a residential house in Gaza City, the Palestinian civil defense said Wednesday.
“The Israeli army killed 10 Palestinians by attacking al-Tabeen school sheltering displaced people in Gaza City,” Mahmoud Basal, spokesman of the civil defense, told Xinhua.
All the casualties were transferred to the hospital, Basal said.
“We were shocked that the army attacked the school where we live. We rushed to rescue the casualties, but could not because of a lack of equipment,” Mohamed Ahmed, a local resident in the school, told Xinhua.
Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential house in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, killing seven people, including women and children, Basal said.
The Israeli army has yet to comment on the attacks.
Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.
According to Gaza-based health authorities, the Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 44,249. ■
